CANADIAN YACHTING ASSOCIATION The CYA is the national authority for yachting in Canada. Founded in 1931 to train and select Canada's representatives for the Olympic Games, it operates as a non-profit organization. It is responsible for the development, management and coordination of all areas of the sport, whether competitive, recreational or educational. The CYA services and represents over 300 yacht clubs, 60 sailing associations and schools, 150,000 racing enthusiasts and more than 1,000,000 recreational boaters across Canada. For the past 60 years, the CYA has developed a wide variety of sailing standards for dinghies, keelboats, windsurfers, race management and judge training. The CYA also hosts a variety of national and regional sailing competitions such as the Canadian Women's Championship, Canadian Youth Championship, Sail East and Sail West. It is also responsible for the operation of the Canadian Sailing Team and Canada's participation in international sailing competitions like the Pan-American and Olympic Games. The following is a list of Cruising Standards and certification developed by the CYA. Courses leading to national certification are offered year-round by sailing schools like the Sailing School Atlantic:
